Broker Spotlight – Candido Minniti

Broker Spotlight

This month, the spotlight is on Candido Minniti, a broker with many years in the industry. Thanks for your time Candido!

How did you become a mortgage broker?

I was working for ING and then went to Rams as a broker. I then went to work for a large building company in Melbourne as their Finance BDM. From there I set up my own business as a mortgage Broker and have been a broker ever since.

What do you like most about the industry?

The things I like most about the industry are the flexibility and all the different people we get to speak to, Real estate agents, lawyers, bank assessors and BDM’s and clients.

Who is your favourite lender and why?

My favourite lender at the moment is hard to gauge due to the difficulty we seem to be having with most banks but most of our deals go to the CBA due to the flexibility of credit assessors and their willingness to listen and accept they were wrong if in fact they are wrong. And the quick responses to our requests for support and escalations.

What advice would you offer a new broker joining the industry?

For a new broker entering the industry today I would say make sure you build up your resilience and perseverance. You also need to be determined to succeed and be prepared to go out and source referrals and referral sources. Make sure you have an excellent CRM, that’s Infinity for us!!).

How and when did you join Vision?

I met Dave and Matt through Australian Mortgage Advisors Group (AMAG) where we are all brokers along with a few others. When AMAG disbanded I chose to stay with Matt and Dave at Vision due to the excellent relationship we had established.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time I write . Screenplays and plays (You never know maybe one of them will be picked up for production!) I also go to the gym, the beach, I like going for walks and generally enjoying the wonderful Queensland lifestyle.

What challenges are you facing with the current climate?

The challenges we face with the current climate are the difficulties in dealing with the banks, delays, wrong credit decisions that take a long time to overturn and also the tightening of credit for customers.

If you won $10M tomorrow, what would you do?

If I won $10M tomorrow, (From your lips to god’s ears!) I would help out family and also put funds back into super so I can have a very comfortable lifestyle.

Describe what you were like in high school in 3 words

In high school the best 3 words to describe me would be belligerent, aggressive and uninterested.

What is your key for success?

My keys for success, are probably cliched determination, perseverance and always keeping a positive attitude.

What makes you laugh?

Anything funny, I think one of the keys to happiness is laughter!
